Mark Moriarty Studio — a new kind of kitchen, and a new kind of restaurant — launches this August at Wilton Park in the heart of Dublin 2

Chef, TV host and author, Mark Moriarty launches Mark Moriarty Studio at the beginning of August, a smart and intriguing new model of modern hospitality, tucked beneath Wilton Park Studios at the corner of Lad Lane and Cumberland Road.

The discreet and elegantly cosy Dublin 2 space marks a significant new chapter for Mark. Not a conventional full-time restaurant, it’s a home for all of Mark’s creative work, but it’s also open to the public every Friday night, serving a set tasting menu across two evening sittings to just 20 guests per sitting.

Intimate and original, Friday Nights at Mark Moriarty Studio are designed to be the perfect, imagined ideal of an upscale, relaxed dinner party, if your host just happened to be a talented chef.

There are just 40 guests in total every Friday night across two distinct time slots — an early sitting from 5.30pm to 8pm, and a late sitting from 8.30pm to 11pm — and you’ll be met and minded by general manager Virginia Anton and her team.

You can choose from sitting at The Kitchen Counter (max. 6 guests) sitting on high stools around the open and buzzy kitchen, The Dinner Table (a more private table for 4) or The Snug (a cosy banquette for 3-4), and your set menu is based on the finest seasonal produce — a 6-7 course selection of precise, technically accomplished and delicious cooking, presented by Mark and his head chef, Odhran Devine.

There’s a tight wine list of 40 bottles with options by the glass, and the drinks list also includes a Dead Rabbit Irish Coffee in tribute to Mark’s long-term relationship with the iconic and multi-award-winning bars in the US.

“This is an exciting new one-off venture for me, and for my team,” says Mark Moriarty. “We’ll be working here Monday to Friday, with weekends off, so we’re doing something pretty unique in the business. I don’t know if there’s anything quite like it anywhere.

The plan is that Mark Moriarty Studio can create a sustainable, modern way of working that will only serve to enhance the quality of our hospitality. It gives us the physical infrastructure to produce content, collaborate with brands, and host private events mid-week, while still keeping our hands on the pans.

Friday nights are going to be particularly special for us — probably the best bit. We’re looking forward to bringing people downstairs and in behind the hidden gallery space. The aim is to provide some accessible luxury, escapism and most importantly, a good time. The Studio is all about cooking directly in front of our guests, in a lovely warm and stylish room that feels like an extension of home. And you’re right in the heart of the city.”

Developed in partnership with IPUT Real Estate Dublin as part of their flagship Wilton Park development, the custom designed interior serves multiple purposes – a high-end hospitality venue, a test kitchen, a TV and podcast set and an intimate and stylish event space – discreetly tucked away at Wilton Park Studios in the heart of Dublin 2. The kitchen and service areas feature premium Miele appliances and the space is furnished by Bushell Interiors. “I wanted this space to be unique, stylish and intimate while still feeling like you’ve been invited over to someone’s home”, says Mark, “quite a nice one in fact!”

Due to the nature of the space, the largest group that can be accommodated on Friday Nights at Mark Moriarty Studio is six, but if you’d like to have lunch or dinner on a different night when the entire space can be yours for you and your party, there are booking opportunities available through the website.

Bookings for the first Friday Night at Mark Moriarty Studio on Friday August 7th go live on July 1st at 10am. See markmoriarty.ie/studio
